본 프로젝트는 유네스코 세계문화유산인 대구 도동서원의 440년 된 수호목(은행나무)을 캔버스로 활용한 대한민국 최초의 살아있는 자연물 대상 미디어파사드 콘텐츠입니다. 지리적 접근성이 낮아 대중의 관심에서 멀어지기 쉬운 문화유산에 현대적 미디어 테크놀로지를 융합하여 새로운 디지털 생명력을 부여했습니다. 440년의 역사 속에 숨겨진 성리학적 가치와 자연의 회복 탄력성을 16개의 정교한 스토리보드 에피소드로 시각화하였으며, 실시간 기술을 통해 거대한 은행나무의 불규칙한 표면에 왜곡 없는 완벽한 프로젝션 맵핑을 구현했습니다. 이를 통해 전통 자산의 단순한 보존을 넘어 대중이 직접 체감하고 감동할 수 있는 '살아있는 유산 커뮤니케이션(Living Heritage Communication)'의 새로운 패러다임을 성공적으로 제시했습니다.
This project is South Korea’s first-ever media facade executed on a 440-year-old protected ginkgo tree at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Dodong Seowon. By transforming a living natural monument into a dynamic digital canvas, it breathes new life into a historic cultural heritage site that is otherwise geographically isolated from the public. The narrative visualizes the sacred journey of the tree—from its structural roots to historical trials and ultimate rebirth—through 16 meticulously designed storyboard episodes. Utilizing cutting-edge projection mapping technology, it achieves seamless alignment on the irregular surfaces of the ancient tree without distortion. Beyond mere illumination, this project establishes a new paradigm for "Living Heritage Communication," successfully bridging deep-rooted historical values with modern public engagement.
